1. Cecily Strong

Comic book character: Karla Sofen/Moonstone

In Marvel Comics, Karla Sofen is arrogant, selfish, and deadly (and that’s before she got superpowers). She also has a very sick sense of humor. Marvel Studios may not portray her as dark as she is in the comics. Because of that, the actor must be light-hearted and dark. That’s where Cecily Strong comes in.

Cecily Strong is known for her comedic roles in Saturday Night Live. While that show focuses on humor, Strong has shown that she has the potential to be more. She’s shown a high level of talent by not being cast to play one kind of character throughout her time on SNL. Kathryn Hahn, Whoopi Goldberg, and Aubrey Plaza have proven to never underestimate a comedic performer. This writer believes that Cecily Strong could play both the serious and the psychotic side of Moonstone.

While a lot of Marvel and DC Comics antagonists are one-and-done, Moonstone shouldn’t be. Cecily Strong has the ability to play the character for years. She can be a Thunderbolt, Dark Avenger, or just an antagonist for Captain Marvel. Regardless, this would be perfect casting.
