James Gunn states that Pacemaker season 2 will come after Superman: Legacy.
Calling all DCU fans (I’m happy to say I am finally onboard that train)! James Gunn, now co-CEO of DC Studios, has recently dropped some tantalizing hints during his appearance on the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum about the much-anticipated Peacemaker season 2 and when we can expect it.
Gunn has been handed the reins of the newly revamped DC Universe (along with Peter Safran), aptly titled Gods and Monsters. While Peacemaker didn’t find a spot on the initial lineup, fans shouldn’t despair. The unique and refreshing filmmaker has assured us that the show is merely “postponed,” not discarded.
John Cena, who plays Peacemaker in the series, is super excited for the future, echoing the enthusiasm of millions of fans worldwide. Despite a jam-packed schedule – with Gunn jumping from the imminent Superman: Legacy project straight into Peacemaker season 2 – the joy of crafting these epic tales seems to fuel his passion.

James Gunn confirmed that he’s set to start working in Peacemaker season 2 after Superman: Legacy.
Now, for the timing. Superman: Legacy is slated to launch on July 11, 2025. Following this timeline and taking into account the filming duration of the first season of Peacemaker, it’s pretty safe to speculate that the second season of the DCEU series won’t grace our screens until sometime after mid-2025. If the DCU continues its trend of staggering releases, we might be looking at a premiere in the summer or even fall of 2025.
Sure, that seems like a long time to wait, but isn’t it also a delicious stretch of anticipation? A lot can happen in the DCU during this period, and the suspense will make the reunion with Cena’s character even better.
Waller, headlined by Viola Davis’ returning Amanda Waller, is another show surrounded by mystery at this point, and is set to come out prior to Peacemaker. According to Gunn, it will feature “a lot of the same people.” That makes it the perfect appetizer, setting the stage for Peacemaker’s grand comeback.
Until more details come to light, you can relive the action and drama of Peacemaker season 1 now on Max.
