Arrowverse star responds to show’s cancellation at The CW
Arrow star David Ramsey has confirmed the status of his spin-off Arrowverse spinoff, Justice U, which was canceled unceremoniously.
With the current regime that is now DC Studios every pre-existing show featuring or have been in development at The CW have been shelved that were DC-related. One of them was Justice U, designed to be a spin-off from the now-defunct Arrowverse franchise with John Diggle’s David Ramsey as the lead.
As per Cosmic Circus (H/T: Movieweb) during an interview with Ramsey, he broke his silence about the show’s status, Justice U, in which his character [Diggle] is assigned to train a new generation of five young meta-humans as superheroes. Ramsey hinted at being dissatisfied over the show being canceled despite it receiving a pilot order from The CW.
Despite this, the versatile action small-screen actor-director has a lot of hope for storylines featuring the Diggle character, especially the variation portrayed on Superman and Lois. It has been established the aforesaid series which most recently had been renewed for Season 4 is set in a different reality outside of the Arrowverse. Ramsey explained:
"“Yeah, unfortunately, you’re right. CW decided to pass on all their shows in development. Justice U was one of them. Would it have been great? Of course, I think Diggle has a lot of story left, Lantern Ring or not. But again, there is Superman & Lois, which again CW hasn’t made a decision on. A version of John Diggle exists within that mythos. We’ll see what happens there.”"
Is there any hope for Justice U?
There have been several programs in development under the network including The Powerpuff Girls that is fine to be sold anywhere. Could the same be said for Justice U? Unfortunately, that may not be the same as there is no confirmation on whether Warner Bros. would like it to be moved over to another network. When asked which DC characters were supposed to be in Justice U Ramsey said:
"“There were a few but I’m not at liberty to talk about that. And the reason why is that it belongs to Warner Bros. Even though it was Warner Brothers produced for CW, it’s still a Warner Bros. show and I’m not quite sure what they’re going to do with that. I know what CW decide to do, but I don’t know what Warner Bros. is gonna do.”"
The show which had been speculated to be reshuffled to kickstart a new franchise spun out of Superman & Lois, was to be executive produced by Michael Narducci (The Originals, Superman & Lois, The Vampire Diaries) and Zoanne Clack (Grey’s Anatomy).
