15. Supernatural season 12

Unexpectedly, fans raised their eyebrows at Supernatural season 12, even though it ambitiously aimed to address many lingering queries, all while cleverly laying the groundwork for exciting new narratives. What made this season fascinating was its unique balance — it took the risk of not only providing clarity but also breathing fresh life into the story by taking it into uncharted territories. It can be a tough act to juggle, but Supernatural has shown time and again, even after 12 seasons, that it knows how to keep its audience hooked while maintaining its mythical charm.

Sam and Dean found themselves once again after Lucifer, a narrative arc that fans had come to associate with the series. Yet, it revitalizes this familiar chase by bringing back the yellow-eyed demons as Lucifer’s Princes of Hell, adding another sinister layer to the devilish hierarchy. This one is also notable for the introduction of Jack Kline, a part-human, part-angel (played by Alexander Calvert), who would go on to become an important part of the show.

But the real game-changer is the mind-bending concept of alternate universes, a testament to Supernatural‘s ability to keep evolving its lore — even if this was something that had long-time fans of the show feeling uncertain about the direction it was going in.

After 12 years of content, Supernatural still kept up with its own mythology and continuously satiated its audience’s thirst for answers, though this one is the weakest season of the bunch.
