10. Zod

One of the most pleasant surprises fans got from the first trailer for The Flash (that was released back at the Super Bowl) was that it would indeed feature the return of General Zod. Actor Michael Shannon reprised his Man of Steel role as the iconic Superman villain attempted to invade Earth without his adversary to stop him.

If you have seen the movie by now, you’ll know that the reason he made a comeback is down to Barry’s timeline meddling. It turns out that the Scarlet Speedster received his powers from that lightning bolt on the very same day Zod invaded Earth. Unfortunately, in this world, there was no Superman to save the day.

There is very little to say about Zod here unfortunately. While it was wonderful to see Michael Shannon reprise his role from the very first DCEU movie (in what is, in many ways, the DCEU’s last movie), Zod was essentially there to be an antagonist in the movie. We knew his backstory already, so that wasn’t needed here, but we learned nothing new and he didn’t step outside of that villain role in his brief appearances.

Zod served his purpose here. Nothing more, nothing less.
