The Flash movie: Every character ranked from worst to best
3. Supergirl
There was a lot of excitement for the arrival of Supergirl in the DCEU. Her appearance on The Flash would mark her first cinematic role since the 1984 Supergirl movie, and the first major appearance from the character since she headlined her own TV series on CBS and The CW which lasted six seasons. And taking over the Girl of Steel from Melissa Benoist would be Sasha Calle.
Much like she is in the comics, Kara Zor-El is the older cousin of Superman, sent to Earth to protect him. However, while she was imprisoned on Earth, Kal-El’s pod was intercepted by Zod, who attempted to resurrect Krypton using the child only to end up killing the infant Superman. And this very much drove Kara’s story.
Originally unable to see why she should care for the human race after her experiences with bad people ended in her being hurt, she decided to step up to defend them, taking the fight to Zod. When she learned what he had done to her cousin, she hit harder and more aggressively, almost defeating him with her emotional outburst.
Calle was wonderful as Kara and we hope to see her fly on the big screen again in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, because The Flash only scratched the surface with the character. It felt like the beginning of what could be, and we really hope it is.
