3. Can we trust Talos?

One idea at the core of the show is that no one is what they seem. It’s interesting because while all the marketing warns us that anyone on the show could be shady, it seems like it also immediately expects us to trust Fury’s small crew including Talos, a former member of the Skrull council.

While that’s understandable since he’s been nothing but a close ally to Fury for over 30 years, following the clearing up of the misunderstanding in Captain Marvel, there is the possibility that the death of his wife changed things for him. He could harbor some resentment toward Fury for not fulfilling his promise of finding the Skrulls a new home and could blame him for indirectly causing the death of his wife.

So far, everything about him being removed from the Skrull council and exiled has been told to us by him. We’re not saying he’s automatically untrustworthy just because he’s a Skrull since there’s more nuance to the race than that but, it would make sense for Fury to keep a close eye on him. Considering the series makes it clear that nothing should be taken at face value and that unfortunately might include him as well.
