Secret Invasion: 5 best moments from Episode 1

2. Seeing New Skrullos
Another highlight comes when we receive a first look at New Skrullos, the hideout for displaced Skrull refugees. It happens when a young Skrull named Beto arrives at the abandoned nuclear plant, where he meets G’iah, Talos’ daughter and a member of the Skrull resistance.
Once the pair reach the main compound, which G’iah says is made up of around 500 Skrulls, we see Skrull children playing and stations providing food, clothes, and places to sleep. We also get to glimpse the process behind how the fighters have been replacing people and taking their memories, locking them into machines that likely keep them trapped in stasis.
This scene offers an intriguing look at both the good and not-so-great aspects of the Skrull subculture. It further humanizes them and brings some more nuance to their mission, even if it doesn’t excuse the acts of terrorism carried out by a select few.
The phrase Beto utters to get in, “A home in my own skin,” makes it clear that not only do the Skrulls want a planet to live on, but they want one where they can do so without having to blend in out of fear. While some are warriors committing acts of terror to further the forceful takeover of the planet, others are just trying to live normal lives without having to hide.
