There have been some truly heartbreaking Stranger Things deaths over the years, but which character’s death was the most heartbreaking of them all?

Stranger Things has taught audiences a profound lesson over the years: expect deaths and prepare for heartbreak.

Beginning with the shocking demise of beloved fan-favorite Barb, Stranger Things has masterfully crafted a world where no character is truly safe and it’s often the characters we love most that meet an untimely demise.

Over the course of the show’s four seasons, there have been a handful of shocking deaths. Some of these deaths have been welcomed, bringing villainous characters’ arcs to an end in fitting ways. Then there were deaths that absolutely ripped our hearts out and left us in tears trying to process the deaths of beloved characters.

In the slides ahead, we’ll be breaking down the major deaths from seasons 1-4 ranking them from least to most heartbreaking. For the purpose of this list, we’ve excluded any character who had a death fakeout or who died but then came back in the end. This means you won’t find the likes of Hopper or Max on this list.

Also, it goes without saying that this article contains MAJOR SPOILERS from Stranger Things, so if you’re in the middle of watching the show for the first time or have never watched the show before know we’re about to get into some major spoilers.
