Superman and Lois season 4 is not coming to The CW in 2023

The CW has confirmed its fall line-up but Superman and Lois season 4 will not be a part of it. 

Superman and Lois has completed three epic seasons on The CW. The Arrowverse offshoot has been nothing short of a thrill-ride since its premiere in 2021, and it continues to leave DC and TV fans in awe with each and every episode.

That was particularly true in the jaw-dropping season 3 finale, that saw the Man of Steel go head-to-head with one of his most infamous rivals in a showdown that can only be described as stunning. If you’re worried what the future might hold for the show, though, don’t be; The CW finally renewed it for a fourth season in June.

Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait some time for Superman and Lois season 4. The CW already confirmed its fall 2023 line-up earlier this summer, and as a decision on the DC show’s fate hadn’t been made at that stage, it wasn’t part of it.

With that in mind, when can fans expect the show to return with new episodes?

Superman and Lois season 4 release updates

Superman and Lois season 4 premieres on The CW in 2024. As the network hadn’t made up its mind about the show’s future when announcing its fall schedule, Superman and Lois will be held until midseason. It will also be joined by returning CW shows All American: Homecoming and Walker, while All American will be the only original CW show to air in the fall.

A more specific release window will be announced after the show resumes production. We don’t know when that will be, however, as the WGA Strike is ongoing.

The fourth season of the show will undergo some major changes. Now that Nexstar have taken ownership of The CW, the network is looking to cut costs – which made renewing the popular-but-expensive Superman and Lois a tough sell. Nevertheless, they did renew it for a shorter fourth season that will feature budget cuts, as well as the loss of seven main cast members (with the hopes that they can return in recurring or guest roles).

It will be a change, for sure, but after all of the cancellations from the new CW, we’re just thankful this excellent show will get a fourth season.
