4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Release Date: May 26, 2017

Box Office Total: $794 million

Cast: Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Javier Bardem as Captain Armando Salazar, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa, Brenton Thwaites as Henry Turner, and Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales marked the triumphant return of Captain Jack Sparrow for what would be the fifth (and currently last) installment of the beloved film franchise.

This time, Jack finds himself entangled in a deadly battle with the menacing Captain Armando Salazar, a vengeful ghost pirate hell-bent on destroying all pirates. To overcome this formidable foe, Jack forms an unlikely alliance with Henry Turner (played by the amazing Brenton Thwaites, pre-Titans), the determined son of Will Turner, and Carina Smyth, a brilliant astronomer.

Together, they embark on a quest to locate the mythical Trident of Poseidon, a mythical artifact capable of breaking curses and altering the fate of the seas. Full of swashbuckling action, breathtaking visual effects, and witty banter, Dead Men Tell No Tales was a fun final chapter to the franchise but it didn’t quite manage to capture the magic of the movies that came before it.
