Rumor mill: Ms. Marvel’s cosmic crossover in The Marvels could set up the new era of the MCU.
You know the saying, right? “A rumor without a leg to stand on will get around some other way.” Time to break out the detective hats and salt shakers because this involves none other than the mega-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe flick The Marvels.
We’ve got Brie Larson back in her super-suit as Carol Danvers, our Captain Marvel, alongside two more fierce women of the MCU. Teyonah Parris will also reprising her role as Monica Rambeau a.k.a. Photon from Disney Plus’ WandaVision, and Iman Vellani will be seen as Kamala Khan a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, spinning out of fellow Disney Pus show Ms. Marvel.
The information below may contains heavy spoilers!
It’s the girl-power squad we didn’t know we needed. Three different generations of Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel legends, kicking bad guy butts in style. My only wish was that Jean Grey could’ve joined the party too – she was the original Marvel Girl, after all.
However, The Marvels‘ post-credits scene could feature another beloved MCU hero.
The Marvels could set up a Young Avengers project
The rumor circulating the internet is that Ms. Marvel isn’t just showing up for this one-off cosmic reunion. Word on the street – or rather, the whispers from the deep depths of Reddit– suggest that Kamala Khan could be lining up for yet another crossover.
As reported by Pirates and Princesses, a possible description of the post-credit scene of the upcoming film had been leaked. The alleged scene involves Kamala Khan and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop (who we haven’t seen since she made her debut in Disney Plus’ 2021 series Hawkeye), with a potential mention of Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang. If this isn’t a delightful hint at what’s coming, I don’t know what is.
I’d put my money on this scene laying the groundwork for a Young Avengers movie or series. Add to the mix Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams (Ironheart), Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, Elijah Richardson’s Eli Bradley (Patriot), and the enigmatic Skarr, briefly spotted in the She-Hulk mini-series, and voila! It’s the perfect recipe for the younger, sassier Avengers team.
With Marvel’s original Avengers seemingly bidding adieu to MCU (at least for now) and the days of the Infinity Saga now in the rear-view mirror, it looks like Marvel Studios is all geared up to pass the torch. We’re talking about a fresh lineup of Avengers that will drive the narrative of MCU’s Phases seven and beyond. Could it be the dawning of a new era? The age of the Young Avengers, maybe?
Well, before we get carried away, let’s remember that, until confirmed by Marvel Studios, this remains a rumor. It’s all speculation for now. But isn’t that half the fun? As we sit on the edge of our seats for Phases 5 and 6, all we can do is wait, watch, and anticipate what Marvel has in store for us. Will we see a Disney+ series featuring our new heroes? Only time will tell!
Whatever the truth may be, one thing’s for sure: the MCU has a knack for keeping us guessing, and we absolutely love it for that.
