The Boys season 4 and Gen V are not coming to Amazon in July 2023

Season 4 of The Boys and season 1 of Gen V won’t arrive on Amazon Prime in July 2023, but San Diego Comic-Con could produce a trailer.

Fans of The Boys on Amazon Prime have been waiting for an update on the release of season 4 for almost a year. There also hasn’t been a trailer or teaser for Gen V in seven months. Every month, this writer patiently waits to update readers on anything regarding either show. Well, there’s good news and bad news regarding season 4 of The Boys and the series premiere of Gen V.

First, the good news. San Diego Comic-Con is right around the corner (July 20-23, 2023). Companies always roll out new teasers and updates on their shows that weekend. It will be no different for The Boys or Gen V. Especially since the only news about either show is coming from Vought International’s YouTube page. Unfortunately, that’s where the good news stops.

Vought International’s YouTube page always produces something regarding The Boys’ universe. In the video above, Homelander killing someone (the season 3 finale) is mentioned. Apparently, he will be going to trial. Also, with Gen V hopefully coming sometime this year, don’t be shocked when the characters from that show get mentioned on one of Vought’s videos.

Unfortunately, that’s where the good news stops.

The Boys season 4 release updates

On his Twitter page, The Boys writer and showrunner Erik Kripke wrote, “The Boys update! 1) When Season 4 drops depends on how long the WGA Strike goes. No answer yet. Tell the studios to make a fair deal!” Considering that Kripke is a writer who’s worked his way from the bottom, it’s not shocking that he’d take this stance. It’s actually honorable. Hopefully, fans understand where he and the other writers are coming from.

While it was already known that season 4 would not be coming in July due to the show not appearing on Amazon’s release list for the month, knowing the series will not return until after the strike helps to give us a more concrete idea of when season 4 might arrive.

With the strike likely to continue through August and possibility even September, it seems likely we might not see the next season arrive until the fall.
