Daredevil rumored to make cameo in Deadpool 3 but Charlie Cox won’t be playing him
A new rumor suggests we could see Daredevil make a cameo in Deadpool 3, but it doesn’t appear Charlie Cox will be the one to don the Daredevil cowl.
Deadpool 3 has already been stirring up a frenzy with its exciting casting prospects, but the rumor mill just got another jolt of energy with whispers of another former Marvel actor’s possible involvement in the project.
Previously, Hugh Jackman’s rumored reprisal of Wolverine after his goodbye to the role in Logan already had fans on their toes. Add to that the reported appearances of James Marsden’s Cyclops, Fame Janssen’s Jean Grey, and Halle Berry’s Storm, and it seemed like Deadpool 3 was shaping up to be a mutant equivalent of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Now it seems like another hero could be popping up with an appearance from Daredevil rumored for the film. What makes this rumor so interesting, though, is that it’s not Charlie Cox who is rumored to be suiting up as the Man Without Fear…
Warning: Potential Deadpool 3 spoilers ahead!
Will Ben Affleck be in Deadpool 3?
As reported by CinemaBlend, Twitter user KC Walsh, known as @TheComixKid, reported seeing Affleck on the Deadpool 3 set in England, where the movie began principal photography last month. While the role Affleck might be playing remains undisclosed, fans are speculating a reprisal of Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, a role he embraced in the 2003 Daredevil movie.
Of course, there’s the possibility that Affleck was merely visiting the UK and had the chance to stop by the set. Actor Ryan Reynolds once mentioned that he often gets mistaken for Affleck, which could be a potential reason for their meeting. But considering the rumors of original X-Men trilogy heroes and the 2005 Fantastic Four quartet being involved, it wouldn’t be surprising if Affleck’s Daredevil, another Fox-era hero, shows up alongside the Merc with the Mouth in Deadpool 3.
Affleck’s Daredevil, released in February 2003, saw him starring alongside Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, with villains played by Michael Clarke Duncan and Colin Farrell. While a sequel never materialized, there was the Garner-led spinoff Elektra, while Affleck moved on to portray Batman in the DC Extended Universe. The role of Daredevil was later embodied by Charlie Cox in the Netflix TV series adaptation.
The recent exploration of the multiverse in the MCU, as seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the What If…? animated series, gives Deadpool 3 an exciting premise. The film seems poised to dive into Marvel movies produced under the then-20th Century Fox, now known as 20th Century Studios.
If Affleck is indeed reprising his role as Daredevil from the 2003 film, the potential dynamic between his serious persona and Ryan Reynolds’ irreverent Deadpool promises to be entertaining. Deadpool’s signature fourth-wall-breaking antics juxtaposed with the usually straight-laced Daredevil sounds too irresistible to pass up.
