Marvel: All 6 Avengers ranked from worst to best
4. Thor
The God of Thunder is one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is also currently the only hero in the MCU who has headlined four movies (with Thor: Love and Thunder allowing his saga to surpass both the Captain America and Iron Man trilogies). That’s not surprising given how lovable the character is and the endearing performance from the one and only Chris Hemsworth.
The character has had a bit of a rocky journey. He learned a lot in Thor that set him up well for his time as an Avenger, while his third solo outing Thor: Ragnarok took him into excitingly silly territory, but as evidenced by Love and Thunder, even good kinds of silliness can go too far. Much like we see from Hulk, fans haven’t responded well to the MCU recently turning Thor into the butt of a joke, with many longing to see a return to his earlier mythological days. On the other hand, those earlier films needed some levity, with the second one particularly being a dull outing.
Thor is a bit of an anomaly right now. Chris Hemsworth plays him so well and he’s such a natural at the humorous side of the hero. However, he’s also convincingly imposing when he’s allowed to be, so if Marvel does manage to get the balance better, we might finally see Thor flourish in a way that we haven’t in so long.
