1. Steve Rogers / Captain America

The Star-Spangled Man With A Plan underwent his own complex character journey throughout his time in the MCU. Steve Rogers’ desire to join the war revolved around his desire to help people, to take down bullies, and ultimately make a change. Well, it’s safe to say he ended up doing just that.

Steve has always been a hero, even before he received that life-changing dose of the Super Soldier Serum that transformed him into Captain America, and that’s why he transitioned so effortlessly into the role of the shield-wielding soldier. Moreover, his commitment to his fellow soldiers in Captain America: The First Avenger highlighted what a team player he was, and that made him the perfect candidate to not just join, but lead, the Avengers.

Captain America struggled with loss, heartache, and an ever-lasting sense of nostalgia because he was a man out-of-time doomed to a life without the woman he loved. But he made that life count, taking the fight to super soldiers, Hydra, artificial intelligence, the government and even Iron Man whenever he stood on the opposing side.

Steve never wavered in his loyalty nor his convictions. He was a hero and a friend through and through, which is why we were so happy that he finally got his one wish whenever he hung up the shield for good. A retirement earned and a happiness that was long overdue.

Captain America is the MCU’s greatest hero.
