5. Jayme Lawson

The name may not ring a bell, and that’s okay if the MCU is looking for an actress who doesn’t have the cache or name recognition for the role of Storm. Jayne Lawson has nothing but critically acclaimed films under her belt. One of which she was the lead, Farewell Amor.

Lawson played Sylvia, and one scene was absolutely amazing. There’s a scene where Sylvia finds herself alone in her room, overcome with a whirlwind of emotions. Jayme’s expression conveyed her character’s internal struggle. Sylvia’s eyes glimmered with tears, yet she stayed strong, proof of just how capable she is in terms of depicting the nuance and complexity of a character like Storm.

Lawson isn’t a stranger to comic book movies either, thanks to her role in Matt Reeves’s Batman. Lawson played the savvy, hard-nosed, no-nonsense political figure, Bella Reál. She’ll likely appear throughout the trilogy thanks to her fantastic performance.

She also had a supporting role in The Woman King, again she was fantastic in a role that showcased women fighting for survival. Except Lawson was on the royal end as the pampered wife of the king, Shante. Lawson’s potential is limitless. And she’d be amazing as Strom in the MCU.
