Loki: All 7 Tom Hiddleston Marvel movies and shows ranked from worst to best

1. Avengers: Infinity War
It’s said repeatedly, but Avengers: Infinity War really was the most ambitious MCU project. It brought together dozens of different characters from various franchises in the saga for an epic showdown against one of the most anticipated villains in cinema. It had a lot of hype surrounding it, and fortunately, it lived up to it.
The film features some of the franchise’s most impressive action scenes, fantastic emotional beats, and well-polished visual effects. It also presents Thanos as not only an excellent villain but also a compelling main character.
While he isn’t in the film for long, Loki plays a significant role in the story. He appears in the opening minutes, which sees Thanos aboard the Asgardian ship that escaped Asgard’s destruction after killing half of the survivors. In a last-ditch effort to save Thor, Loki produces the tesseract, which he stole from Odin’s Vault, before dying a heroic death after attempting to stab Thanos.
Having Thanos kill the first villain the Avengers ever faced made it clear that he was a force to be reckoned with and that no one in the movie was safe. While double-crossing someone isn’t new for Loki, the fact that he did it to protect his brother was. It’s an incredibly poetic end for the character, showing how far he’d come since his first appearance.
His death motivates Thor to fight for the rest of the movie, setting him on a path that culminates in his face-off with the mad titan in the last act. It also makes the devastating ending where Thanos succeeds even more tragic.
