Nick Fury: All 8 Samuel L. Jackson Marvel movies and shows ranked from worst to best

7. Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel sees Carol Danvers, or Vers, as she’s called at the start of the film, as she crashlands on Earth following a mission for the Kree Starforce that gets her captured by the Skrulls, a race of shapeshifting aliens.
She comes in contact with Nick Fury, a low-level S.H.I.E.L.D. agent at the time, and teams up with him to take down the Skrulls. The mission sets her on a path that allows her to uncover the secrets about her past that the Kree had been keeping from her.
Since the movie’s set in 1995 and thanks to some remarkably-convincing de-aging technology, we see a younger version of Fury. While Carol is the lead, this film gives him the most focus out of all the movies he’s been a part of.
We see how the events of this film and his interaction with Carol lead him to jumpstart the initiative that would later become the Avengers. It also explains how he lost his eye, even if it wasn’t the intense backstory people hoped for.
Admittedly, although it has some interesting ideas and does introduce us to Carol and the Skrulls for the first time, the film could have been better. It’s one of the more mediocre and forgettable installments in the MCU.
