4. Avengers: Age of Ultron
Haunted by visions of the oncoming attack, Tony Stark creates an artificial intelligence named Ultron with the goal of bringing peace to the world, eliminating the need for the Avengers. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse when Ultron decides that the only way to bring about peace is to end humanity entirely.
After going into hiding, the team has to find a way to stop him before he can successfully destroy the planet. They find new allies in the form of Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver, leading to a final battle against the robot and his drones in Sokovia.
Avengers: Age of Ultron often gets a lot of flack for not living up to the “Age” part of its title, but aside from that, it’s a pretty decent film. James Spader plays Ultron perfectly, and the film naturally develops the team’s dynamics really well from the first. It also introduces us to Hawkeye’s family, which helps flesh out his character.
Since during this time, Fury was supposed to be “dead,” he doesn’t have a massive role in the film, only showing up at the Barton farm to help the team brainstorm courses of action for taking down Ultron and then later appears in the final battle with an old Helicarrier that the Avengers use to rescue Sokovian civilians from the city’s destruction.
