2. The Avengers
The Avengers completely changed the game, not just for Marvel Studios but for the superhero genre entirely. It proved that the shared universe model, a concept many people were unsure would work before its release, could be successful. To this day, it remains one of the most iconic superhero films.
The movie finally assembled Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Hulk to help defeat Thor’s brother, Loki, who planned to attack and take over Earth with his army. We get to see some interesting clashing personalities and unique action sequences that could happen by bringing together the characters teased over the years.
As the creator of the Avengers Initiative, Fury acts as the team’s ringleader of the team, and we finally get the payoff to all the cameos from the previous movies he had been making up until that point. We also get to see the full scope of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the first time, with the Helicarrier serving as the primary base of operations for the team.
The film solidified Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury as one of the best comic book movie castings and confirmed exactly how lucky audiences were to have him in the role.
