15. Curb Your Enthusiasm

11 seasons and counting, and Curb Your Enthusiasm is still pretty, pretty good. Larry David stars as a fictionalized version of himself in this long-running comedy, as we follow his daily shenanigans in the entertainment industry and all the trouble he accidentally gets into.

Created by David himself, each episode sees a new situation arise for the character as he interacts with fellow celebrities, friends, and foes. Because of his brutally honest, sometimes very selfish, and overall curmudgeon personality, Larry gets into disagreements on the daily, some that can be solved quickly and others that turn into lifelong grudges. He doesn’t understand why some societal norms are accepted, and will make anyone uncomfortable to voice his opinion.

Because of this, Curb Your Enthusiasm will leave you cringing and always laughing. There’s a reason the show has been going strong since 2000, though I’m surprised it’s only scooped up two Emmy award wins in its run so far.

14. I May Destroy You

Like the title says, I May Destroy You absolutely destroyed me, and it challenged the way I view aspects of life. Premiering in 2020, the limited series was created by and stars Michaela Coel, who portrays a writer named Arabella living in London. After being sexually assaulted one night, the show follows Arabella as she tries to put the pieces together of what happened and the fallout of the traumatic event.

The dark comedy-drama handles the subject manner so delicately and in a way I’ve never seen before. It’s devastating, hilarious, and inspiring, all in just 12 episodes. It’s honestly overwhelming how effective I May Destroy You is. Coel is such a breath of fresh air and a major talent, truly deserving of the Emmy award she won for the show in 2021. Her raw authenticity in her performance is amazing.

I May Destroy You is not always an easy watch, but it’s one that’s worthwhile.
