Hailee Steinfeld does a great job bringing the Marvel character Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen to life through voice acting in the Spider-Verse movies, but will she portray her in live-action, too?

Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld has been impressing viewers since her breakout role as Mattie Ross in True Grit in 2010, and since then she’s scooped up so many awesome movies and shows. She’s also entered the superhero sphere with her part as Kate Bishop in the MCU show Hawkeye and as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen in Sony’s Spider-Verse movies. Is there any part Steinfeld can’t do? It’s no wonder she’s an in-demand actress.

We last heard Steinfeld in the Spider-Verse sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which hit theaters in late May and was a box office success. Now, Marvel fans are already looking forward to the next animated movie in the series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is currently slated for a 2024 release.

What Hailee Steinfeld could look like as a live-action Spider-Gwen

Fans of the Spider-Verse series know how well Steinfeld does voice-acting Gwen, and when it comes to a potential live-action version, she’s the top pick for the role. Wondering what she might look like portraying the superhero in real life? Luckily, we don’t have to look too far as digital artist @kryptonz.ink has created fan art to show us. Check it out:

It’s no surprise Steinfeld would look great as Spider-Gwen in real life!

Is Hailee Steinfeld playing a live-action Gwen Stacy?

At the time of this writing, no casting for a live-action Spider-Verse movie has been announced. The good news, however, is that producer Amy Pascal has revealed live-action movies are in the works, and producer Avi Arad confirmed a Spider-Woman movie is coming “sooner than you expect.”

“You’ll see all of it,” Pascal told Variety at the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse premiere in May. “It’s all happening.”

And although all of these live-action Spider-Verse talks are early, Steinfeld has confirmed numerous times she would reprise her role as Gwen. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 26-year-old actress confirmed playing the character in live-action would be an easy “yes,” before explaining how she would approach the role in this medium as opposed to voice acting.

“So, would I deliver the lines differently in live-action? That’s such an interesting thing,” Steinfeld said. “I imagine if they’re coming from the same place, it would feel similar, but with some physicality added in there, it would inherently be different.”

Fingers crossed we’ll get to see Steinfeld take on the role in live-action, but in any case at least we know she’ll be back as Spider-Gwen in the next Spider-Verse movie. Stay tuned with us here at Bam Smack Pow for all the latest updates on Beyond the Spider-Verse and the Sony-Marvel movies!
