What’s next for the X-Men’s government

While there have been events leading to X-Men: Fall of X, Immortal X-Men seems like the official prequel. During the issue, Doug notices that Krakoa’s leaves are rotting. Or, it’s the island’s fall. He points out that fall isn’t just a season. Fall also means a downward spiral of things. In this case, the current state of mutants and their new utopia (hence Fall of X).

Clearing out the Quiet Council is a good step, but the odds are stacked against them. Mutants no longer trust people in power. Let’s also not forget that Orchis will crash the Hellfire Gala and officially kick off Fall of X (as mutants will literally fall from the sky).

After everything is said and done, Krakoa may no longer exist after Fall of X concludes. If it does, a new mutant government must be put in place. Emma suggested a telepathic vote for a new government, but that’s not foolproof. Belief in Krakoa is scarce. Plus, telepaths can be manipulated or influence others. All of this leaves the future of Krakoa more up in the air than before.

Who will be the next members of the Quiet Council? Is there going to be one? Are the mutants going to form a new kind of government? Will Krakoa be destroyed before a new government can be put in place? Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out all the answers as the X-Men: Hellfire Gala debuts on July 26.
