Marvel star teases return in Avengers 5: ‘Pretty sure I’m gonna be in it’
While the exact lineup of Avengers 5 remains unclear, it appears there is at least one Marvel star who expects to appear in the upcoming Marvel movie.
There has been a lot of speculation over which Marvel stars will be back for the next Avengers movie, but it appears there is one Marvel star who expects a call to appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health magazine, actor Simu Liu talks about everything from his latest role in Warner Bros. Barbie to his future in the MCU as Shang-Chi — a future that looks bright.
With director Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, directing the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty film, it appears to be a safe bet that Shang-Chi will be making an appearance in said movie. In fact, Liu is confident he’s going to be in it too.
As Liu told Men’s Health:
"Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be in it too. Beyond that, I really don’t know, and I don’t want to know before it’s absolutely ready. If there’s anything I’ve learned in this industry, especially with Marvel, it’s that things are changing, always in flux, and you really can’t be sure that something is going to happen until you’re on set and you’re about to do the scene. Even then, scenes get reshot, things get retooled, elements get added in post-production with visual effects and everything. So in between, it’s been a really fulfilling journey for me to get to do projects like Barbie—which are separate from that identity of Shang-Chi—and to really get to spread my wings as an artist."
Shang-Chi was one of Marvel Studios’ best recent entries. It offered a fresh take on the genre and featured beautiful cinematography, fight choreography, and special effects. The film boasted well with both fans and critics and director Cretton is sure to bring a fantastic film in Kang Dynasty. He has proven he has the eye and storytelling capability for a film of this stature.
Many film and television productions are currently on pause due to the ongoing WGA strike and with SAG-AFTRA now on strike, the delays are likely to be extended. There’s no telling when this issue will be resolved but hopefully results in a positive outcome for all parties.
