5. Jack Larson (Adventures of Superman)
Jack Larson is best known to many for his portrayal of Jimmy Olsen in the 1950s television series Adventures of Superman.
Larson’s portrayal of Jimmy Olsen, the young, enthusiastic, and intrepid photographer at the Daily Planet newspaper, endeared him to audiences of all ages. Jimmy Olsen was Superman’s trusty sidekick and a key supporting character in the show.
He often found himself getting into various misadventures and dangerous situations, relying on the Man of Steel to rescue him. Larson’s portrayal of the character was characterized by his youthful energy, boyish charm, and genuine friendship with Superman. He brought a lighthearted and endearing quality to the role, making Jimmy a beloved figure among fans of the show.
One notable aspect of Larson’s portrayal was his distinctive bow tie, which became a signature part of Jimmy Olsen’s character. The bow tie became so synonymous with the character that it has since become a recognizable symbol of Jimmy Olsen in other adaptations of Superman’s stories.
Some might actually be a bit shocked to see him landing right in the middle of the list due to the iconic nature of his role, and that’s a fair argument. Larson delivered a timeless performance and perfectly captured Clark’s close friend, a performance that was without a doubt one of the best from the early days of superhero TV.
