There’s a chance that the MCU decides to take a unique approach to the X-Men. The team is vast, with five core members recruited by Professor X. Jean Grey is one of the original members. Given her origin story and the hardships she endured in her youth, perhaps we could explore the early days of Jean. A young Jean could work really well in a movie. Sophia Lillis is the perfect choice to bring Jean to life, and her resume proves it.

Look no further than Lillis’ role in the IT remake, where she portrayed the complex and multi-layered heart of the movie as Beverly Marsh. She also starred in the coming-of-age supernatural horror film Gretel and Hansel. Both films showcased her ability to portray damaged characters, but it was her role in Dungeons and Dragons that took things to a new level. She played Doric and demonstrated her capacity to take on an action movie role with comedic flair.

Imagine an origin story with an ensemble cast, allowing Jean to struggle early on but ultimately becoming the hero that fans know and love. Let the viewers empathize with Jean’s struggles as she grapples with her psychic abilities. Make Jean a morally conflicted character, using her powers in ways that fans question—for good reason. Naturally, the other team members won’t initially like or accept her, but through her heroic actions, she earns their respect and becomes one of them in the end.

Lillis would be perfect for the role.
