The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

The long-awaited Rick Grimes and Michonne spinoff from the world of The Walking Dead was initially expected to be one of this year’s three new TWD spinoff TV shows (and four overall if you count original spinoff Fear The Walking Dead). However, fans found out that they would have to wait a little longer when it was announced earlier this year that it would be delayed until early 2024.

That hasn’t stopped AMC from revealing some new exciting details about the upcoming AMC+ show, including the title. At San Diego Comic-Con, it was confirmed that the series’ official name was The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, a reference to the “We Are The Ones Who Live” monologue from the final episode of the main TWD TV series.

Filming took place between February and May 2023, so it’s all there and ready to be released. The likely reason for the delay was the abundance of TWD TV shows already confirmed for mid-late 2023 on AMC and AMC+, with Dead CityDaryl Dixon and the final season of Fear all having slots on the calendar. With that, it makes sense to hold Rick and Michonne’s spin-off until next year.

Release expected: 2024
