7 TV shows still coming in 2023 (and 3 that aren’t)
Superman and Lois season 4
Even though Superman and Lois is one of The CW’s two most-watched shows, there was a lot of uncertainty about its future on the network this past year. New owners Nexstar wanted to minimize spending and have essentially turned The CW into a network of cheap acquisitions, much to the criticism of, well, everyone. In spite of its popularity, Superman and Lois is very expensive to produce, prompting Warner Bros. to have lengthy discussions with The CW to convince them to keep it around.
Thankfully, those discussions were fruitful. Superman and Lois will return to TV screens for a fourth season (albeit with a much smaller cast and less episodes). Unfortunately, it won’t be arriving this year.
While the ongoing strike means that it won’t be resuming production in the foreseeable future, this show was one of The CW’s rare few not to air two seasons in the same calendar year – meaning that it was always set for a 2024 release. This was confirmed when Nexstar unveiled The CW’s fall lineup ahead of Superman and Lois‘ renewal, as All American was the only of the now-four-renewed CW shows on the schedule (it has now moved to 2024 too due to the strike).
After that jaw-dropping season 3 finale, 2024 can’t get here quick enough for Superman and Lois fans.
Release expected: 2024
