James Gunn has cleared the air regarding the rumors floating around about Superman: Legacy and his decisions to numerous DC characters in the film.

The rumors are flying faster than a speeding bullet around Superman: Legacy. James Gunn, who recently took charge at DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, has confirmed the involvement of Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific in his upcoming Superman film. But before you start thinking that DC Studios is pushing for these new faces to lure in more potential buyers, Gunn has shut down these rumors.

When asked by a fan on Threads if there was any truth to recent rumors that Warner Bros. Discovery’s top brass had ordered him to stack the Superman: Legacy cast to lure buyers, Gunn was adamant in noting that of course, it was not true.

The rumor started with some fans started theorizing that the inclusion of these characters might be a move ordered by David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery. Fans thought it was a little too much including so many different characters from the DC Universe, and assumed that the decision was done to make the film more attractive to potential buyers. Though this theory had the potential to sound somewhat plausible, Gunn has confirmed that those rumors are indeed just rumors.

The inclusion of Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific in Superman: Legacy is less about marketing tactics and more about having a story packed with action, fun characters, and some drama as Gunn works to build a connected world where superheroes have existed for some time. Now, all we can do is wait for the man in the red cape to fly back onto our screens, hopefully with a movie not as boring as Man of Steel.

In Gunn we trust, right?
