Marvel’s upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again series will reportedly be darker than some might expect and possibly rated TV-MA.

If you were a fan of the gritty and dark Daredevil series on Netflix, you’re in for another treat. Marvel has given us a small but exciting update on the new Daredevil: Born Again series: Marvel is looking to turn the new series into a dark and mature show, focusing on the darker side of Matt Murdock. They’re not planning on pulling punches, even aiming for a TV-MA rating just like the Netflix version, this according to insider Daniel RPK.

It’s not all about gore and violence though – it’s about unearthing the raw psychological layers of the characters and their character developments, giving us a peek into the grim realities and the complex moral tightrope our heroes have to tiptoe on.

Daredevil: Born Again is planned to roll out in two parts consisting of nine episodes each, a strategy used with the highly adored Andor series. Unlike Netflix’s 13-episode seasons, this split narrative will help keep viewers hooked and waiting for that mid-season twist.

What can we expect from Daredevil: Born Again?

While the exact plot for Daredevil: Born Again still remains under wraps. we do know that the comic book arc of the same name sends Daredevil spiraling into a hellish time.

It is a dark narrative where Kingpin weaponizes Matt Murdock’s deep feelings for Karen Page, who’s struggling with her own personal demons, to bring Daredevil down to his knees. While it’s still uncertain whether this specific storyline will bleed into the fabric of the MCU itself, the show’s slated 18 episodes will provide a perfect space to recreate and reshape what could be the MCU’s new Daredevil.

As far as who’s playing Daredevil, it has been announced that Charlie Cox will be coming back to his role as Murdock/Daredevil. And, as we see more and more shows and movies delayed over the SAG-AFTA strikes, the clock is ticking and we’re all collectively holding our breaths for the next update on release dates. But while we’re waiting on the edge of our seats for the rebirth of the Man Without Fear, we’re also keeping our ears and eyes open for any more information on it.
