Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Mortal Kombat
1998 The cast of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.” From l-r: Anthony Stewart Head, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Seth Green, Nicholas Brendon and Charisma Carpenter.

4. Buffy Summers

"“Seize the moment ’cause tomorrow you might be dead.” – Buffy Summers"

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the first shows of its kind. The entire crew paved the way for heroes who appear on TV today, but, in reality, they’re badass heroes. It also helps that Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy Summers, delivered a ten out of ten performance in every episode.

Buffy is a strong, quick, well-versed fighter that carries a giant weapon (the Scythe). Throughout the TV series and comics, she’s defeated hordes of vampires, Dracula himself, and the first evil to walk the earth. This makes her the perfect candidate to fight gods, things with multiple arms, and more. In fact, Buffy Summers is long overdue to be in Mortal Kombat.

3. Willow Rosenberg

"“Bored now” – Dark Willow"

If you’re a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer then you know that Willow became powerful enough to destroy the world. That is the Willow Rosenberg that this game needs. A witch that can rip the skin off her opponents because she’s bored. A woman who is so strong that she could defeat someone without throwing a punch or a kick.

Who says that a Mortal Kombat competitor needs to actually use punches and kicks? It doesn’t matter if that’s what the buttons are called. As the game has evolved, sweeps and roundhouses were once kick moves. They’re not anymore. Let Willow start a trend where the characters use their powers instead of their bodies to fight. This would leave room for creativity to flow.
