Secret Invasion season 2: Everything we know so far

Secret Invasion is one of the hottest TV shows of the summer! The Marvel series premiered on Disney+ on June 21, 2023. The final episode of the season just dropped on Wednesday, July 26, and now, fans are already looking ahead to Secret Invasion season 2.

We shared everything we know about a potential second season of the Marvel series. We’ll share more updates about the season as we hear them.

Will there be a Secret Invasion season 2?

So far, we haven’t seen any plans for Secret Invasion season 2, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. It likely depends on how well the show does for Disney+ and Marvel, and if there’s a reason to continue telling this story.

Unfortunately, Secret Invasion is not performing that well for Disney+. I mean, it’s not an unsuccessful series or anything like that, but it’s not quite as popular as some of the other Marvel shows on Disney+. According to Samba TV, about one million fans tuned into the premiere, more than Ms. Marvel but not even half the viewership of the Loki premiere.

So, that’s not a good sign for Secret Invasion season 2. On top of that, there’s not a lot of story left to explore with these characters right now. The first season ending, which we’ll discuss, is pretty much wrapped up.

If there was a big cliffhanger or something, we could definitely be looking at Secret Invasion season 2. That’s not really the case.

Plus, we know that Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury in The Marvels, which premieres on Nov. 10, 2023. Depending on what happens with Fury in The Marvels, we could see the character featured in another series, but we’ll just have to circle back after that movie is released.

Has Disney announced the Secret Invasion season 2 release date?

No, Disney hasn’t mentioned anything about Secret Invasion season 2 yet. We’re still waiting for the official word. Unfortunately, that means we don’t know much about a Secret Invasion season 2 release date.

If Disney and Marvel were super excited about Secret Invasion season 2 and wanted to get rolling soon, they’d have a difficult time doing that because the WGA is on strike. SAG is on strike. So, there’s no writers to consult or actors to negotiate new deals or anything like that.

If Marvel moved forward with a new season, we’d probably have to wait a long time to see season 2. At the earliest, it would be 2025.

Marvel already has most of the next few years mapped out, and Secret Invasion season 2 is not part of the plans right now.

You should watch Secret Invasion before The Marvels

While Secret Invasion solves some of the problems it presents, it does leave a lot to be desired with its resolution, which probably means, given Nick Fury’s role in The Marvels, that you should watch Secret Invasion before The Marvels in November.

We should see a world where the Skrulls continue to be unwelcome on Earth and in America, specifically. We also know that Fury is in space working with SABER and plays a big part in this film, although it’s down to Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan to stop Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) in the movie.

Who could be in the Secret Invasion season 2 cast?

There are still a few characters alive that could be part of the Secret Invasion season 2 cast. None are confirmed for the season, but it’s possible that we could see this group of characters in another season:

• Charlayne Woodard as Varra
• Emilia Clarke as G’iah
• Olivia Colman as Sonya Falsworth
• Don Cheadle as Rhodey Rhodes
• Killian Scott as Pagon
• Dermot Mulroney as President Ritson
• Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross

The most important cast members and characters who would not return, notably Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Samuel Adewunmi as Beto, Richard Dormer as Prescod, and Kingsley Ben-Adir as Gravik.

How many episodes would be in Secret Invasion season 2?

Almost all new seasons of seasons of the Marvel shows released on Disney+ are six episodes. That’s how many episodes were in the first season of Secret Invasion. We have to assume that if Secret Invasion season 2 is greenlit at Marvel, there would be six episodes in the second season of the series.

How to watch Secret Invasion

Like the other Marvel-Disney+ series, Secret Invasion is available to stream exclusively on Disney+. If you want to watch the series, you’ll have to subscribe.

Interestingly, Disney is airing Ms. Marvel on ABC during the summer of 2023. We imagine this happened because of the WGA and SAG strikes disrupting things in Hollywood. We could see Secret Invasion get released on ABC, but it’s up to Disney to choose to do that.
