7. The WORST Phase 4 MCU movie – Eternals (2021)

Film synopsis: “The Eternals, a race of immortal beings with superhuman powers who have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years, reunite to battle the evil Deviants.” – IMDb

Cast: Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian, Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh.

Despite the immense hype and a star-studded ensemble cast comprising some of Hollywood’s finest, the MCU’s Eternals takes its place as the lowest-ranked movie in the Phase 4 series.

As it garnered the first “rotten” score on Rotten Tomatoes for an MCU film, this placement might not come as a surprise. Upon its release in 2021, Eternals received a mixed reception and faced criticisms for its dull action choreography, bloated storyline, underdeveloped characters, and elaborated mythology –- aspects that we, unfortunately, find ourselves agreeing with.

The film’s complex narrative could have greatly benefited from a more extended format, such as a Marvel series, allowing plenty of time to unravel its story and delve into the depths of its intriguing universe.

Though it has found its place at the bottom of our ranking, it’s essential to remember that movie opinions are subjective, and some viewers may still find aspects to appreciate in Eternals.

Despite its drawbacks, it adds another layer to the vast and ever-evolving Marvel Cinematic Universe.
