Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was undeniably one of the most highly anticipated Phase 4 movies for us, primarily due to the inclusion of some of our favorite heroes. However, upon its release, the film left us feeling somewhat disappointed, leading us to rank it in fourth place.
The primary issue we encountered with the movie was a sense of rush, leaving the overall experience feeling unsatisfying. Additionally, we were disheartened by the way Wanda Maximoff was portrayed as a villain, seemingly undoing her painful journey to redemption in WandaVision, a decision that did not resonate well with us.
Nonetheless, we do acknowledge some of the movie’s redeeming qualities, particularly Sam Raimi’s directorial approach. Raimi’s vision brought forth the MCU’s darker elements and introduced a unique blend of horror and superhero genres that we had not witnessed from Marvel before, adding an intriguing dimension to the film.
While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness might not have fully lived up to our expectations, it undoubtedly expanded the MCU’s narrative possibilities and set the stage for further exploration of the multiverse and its characters.
