Real life wants to rain on our parade – Deadpool 3 could be delayed further if the strikes keep going, according to rumors.
Deadpool 3, which was originally shifted from its original November 8, 2024 release date to May 3, 2024, could be looking at yet another date change this time due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. Turns out the real villains of this story might just be labor disputes.
Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) represents about 160,000 film and television actors, journalists, and other media professionals. When SAG-AFTRA goes on strike, it can cause issues with Hollywood production schedules. And this time around, it seems our much anticipated Deadpool 3 could be a casualty after all.
The news came via former Hollywood Reporter Matt Belloni’s Puck newsletter, which paints a rather bleak picture of the situation.
Will Deadpool 3 be delayed by the strike?
If the SAG-AFTRA strike lasts for more than a month, there’s a good chance Deadpool 3 might be forced to revert to its original November 8 slot as the actors, including Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), are members of the guild, as are most of the other cast members.
If that’s not enough drama for you, there are whispers in the industry suggesting both the SAG-AFTRA and the WGA strikes might extend into the fall and even into the next year. So, the chances of seeing Wolverine and Deadpool causing mischief and breaking the 4th wall in the MCU by August are looking kind of slim, to put it mildly. Breaks my heart to do so.
While this news might dampen spirits for now, let’s not forget what Deadpool stands for – ridiculous humor, hilarious twists, and, of course, an uncanny ability to bounce back from just about anything.
