When it comes to queens of horror, it’s been a while since an actress has managed to break through in the genre in the way Jenna Ortega has across the last decade.

Despite only being 20 years old, Ortega has already built quite an impressive resume in the genre with roles in Scream 5, Scream 6, Insidious: Chapter 2, X, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, and Studio 666.

Then there was her breakout performance in 2022’s sleeper hit Wednesday, in which she took on the role of Wednesday Addams and captivated audiences across the globe. The role has catapulted Ortega’s career to an entirely new level of stardom and Ortega shows no signs of slowing down.

She’s become one of the most sought-after stars in the industry, but she’s keeping true to her horror roots and will next appear in one of the most anticipated sequels currently in development, one 35 years in the making.

In one of her most anticipated upcoming projects, Jenna Ortega will be teaming up with Tim Burton once again in the sequel to his 1988 cult classic Beetlejuice. Although plot details are being kept under wraps, it has been confirmed that Ortega will be taking on the role of Lydia Deetz’s daughter!

Needless to say, audiences are thrilled at the prospect of seeing Ortega get to play opposite Winona Ryder, who will be reprising her role as Lydia from the original movie. Earlier this month, photos from the set leaked of the pair filming scenes for the film, and now, thanks to one talented artist, we get to see Ortega take center stage in a stunning concept poster for the upcoming film!

Inspired by Ortega’s casting in the movie, digital artist 83pixelstudios has debuted a new Beetlejuice 2 concept poster which puts Ortega front and center. In the poster, we see Ortega channeling her inner goth goddess in a look that is giving major shades of Lydia’s teen days from the original film set against the backdrop of Beetlejuice’s grave.

It’s a truly chilling sight and one that is sure to leave fans excited for what could come when the movie hits theaters with a glimpse of the epic horror vibes Ortega will undoubtedly deliver.

When does Beetlejuice 2 come out?

Due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, there is a chance Warner Bros. Discovery will have to change the release date, but at the moment Beetlejuice 2 is slated to be released on Sept. 6, 2024. This makes perfect sense given the film will once again blend together comedy and horror, making fall an optimal timeline for the movie’s release.

If the strike were to create a delay, there is a chance the studio could look to shift the film’s release back to October which would put it closer to a Halloween release date. However, there is a strong chance the movie could be delayed beyond the span of a month which could then lead the movie to being pushed back further.

Who is in the Beetlejuice 2 cast?

Of course, the biggest new addition to the sequel’s cast is Jenna Ortega who has become a horror icon and whose presence is sure to draw in new audiences who haven’t seen the original. However, for those who have watched the original film, there will be many returning faces to the sequel including Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara. They’ll be joined by Justin Theroux, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci, who round out the known cast.
