A new X-Men roster is announced during the 2023 Hellfire Gala, and Marvel Comics’ team is all new and all different.

The first two Hellfire Galas announced the next characters to join the X-Men in Marvel Comics. This year’s gala was no different. Just like before, the people at the Hellfire Gala voted on who they thought should represent them.

The new team could be the most eclectic group ever assembled. It consists of Synch, Talon (Laura Kinney, but hundreds of years old), Prodigy, Frenzy, Cannonball, Dazzler, Jubilee, and the Juggernaut.

Marvel Comics’ new X-Men revealed

Up until the last decade or so, Frenzy has fought against the X-Men on various antagonists’ teams. Now, she’s part of the mutant alpha team. If you’ve read Al Ewing’s S.W.O.R.D. or X-Men Red, then you know this is long overdue. She’s incredibly strong, invulnerable, and has experience being a hero and a villain. An asset that will set her apart from everyone except her other teammate, Juggernaut.

Juggernaut being on the roster isn’t shocking. Despite being one of the first villains the X-Men have faced, Cain Marko spent most of the last decade trying to be a hero. A role that has always suited him. Juggernaut has never really been a bad person. Just impulsive and manipulated. It should also be noted that Juggernaut has been a member of the X-Men and Excalibur in the past. Recently, in Legion of X, Juggy was part of Nightcrawler’s mutant police.

The biggest part of this news was Jean Grey and Cyclops stepping back. Jean pointed out that they wanted to prepare the next group of X-Men to lead mutants into the new world. This is why Synch and Talon were voted as the newest leaders of the X-Men. They’ve proven to be the best people to lead.

Unfortunately, all of the happiness was short-lived. Soon after the announcement, Orchis crashes the Hellfire Gala and kills most of the X-Men that were just announced.

What do you think of the new roster? Will it be enough to stop Orchis? Let us know in the comments below.
