The buzz and excitement around Deadpool 3 are everywhere – but some details about Emma Corrin’s villain seem to be making their way out of hiding.

Despite the production holdup due to the ongoing SAG-AFTA strike, fans are eating up any and every bit of possible information trickling out from the set. One particular rumor that has been whirling around has recently been confirmed: Emma Corrin, of Netflix’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover and The Crown fame, will be our villain in Deadpool 3.

Ryan Reynolds, our beloved snarky anti-hero, posted on Valentine’s Day (of all days) a Twitter message about Emma Corrin, welcoming them to the Deadpool 3 family. Since then, fans have worked tirelessly to dig up any information regarding Corrin’s role in the movie. Fast forward a few months, and Corrin themselves confirmed in an interview with Empire that they are, indeed, playing a villain.

But alas, they’re keeping the identity of their character under wraps. As actors usually do.

Corrin confessed to Empire that they’re pretty stoked to play the bad guy for a change.

"“I feel really excited to play a villain. I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.”"

Corrin’s invitation to the MCU came after director Shawn Levy saw them in a production of Virginia Woolf’s Orlando. Marvel-wise, Corrin admitted they’re not exactly a devout follower of the MCU’s sprawling saga, but they do appreciate the complexity and depth of the universe.

"“I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’”"

They also expressed their excitement about being part of Deadpool, especially given its cheeky self-awareness and fourth-wall-breaking style.

Of course, Deadpool 3 wouldn’t be a Marvel movie without multiple villains, right? Some fans are theorizing that Corrin may not be the film’s main antagonist, or they might be portraying a variant of a character we’ve already encountered.

Now, there’s no doubt that the duo we’ve all been dying to see on the big screen together, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), are set to tackle some sort of major threat in the sequel. After all, why else would you bring together these mutants in a multiverse adventure? Right?

Deadpool 3 is most likely going to be a ticket to the multiverse. It’d be Wade’s big leap from the Fox universe to the MCU, and we could potentially see the TVA, seen in Loki’s recent season 2 trailer, involved in this adventure as well.

Given the scale of the multiverse, it makes sense that the big bad of Deadpool 3 should be a significant Marvel character. Of course, my Kang-loving self would love to see one of his many variants involved in this movie as well, but which one? As we know, there are entirely too many of them out and about in the multiverse. Could Corrin be playing one of his variants? That would actually be pretty awesome.

To throw another curveball, there have been a few plot leaks that suggest Magneto (Ian McKellen) could be the main villain, though he isn’t part of the MCU… yet. Others whisper about Spiral and Mojo, who also have yet to appear in the MCU to date. It’s a guessing game at this point, but hey, that’s half the fun. Kind of. I just want to see Deadpool 3 already.
