2. Charlie Heaton

With the X-Men getting a revival as part of the MCU, it makes sense that they might be considering actors with a following that is also not as well known as others. And what better way to cast the character of Kurt Wagner than with Charlie Heaton of Stranger Things?

Thanks to Heaton’s role as Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things, we know that the actor can be a part of a group saving the world and still bring a sense of sarcasm and humor to the table. He delivers dry humor perfectly and he knows how to act as support for others, while also knowing when to step into the moment as the lead.

The fact that Heaton now has a pretty solid following thanks to his work on the Netflix series is also a great thing for a new class of X-Men. It means that his fans will follow him and will be excited to see him on the big screen, while people who maybe have no interest in Stranger Things will appreciate someone lesser known stepping into the role and making it their own.

When it comes to having someone who can be a part of a team, while also being a leader, it just feels like Charlie Heaton really does have those qualities. And it would be nice to see him take on such a fascinating character as part of the MCU and their new take on the X-Men. It just seems like he would make the role his own, while still giving us a representation of Nightcrawler that is true to the comics.
