4. Roger Moore

Of the six James Bond actors on this list, Roger Moore starred in more James Bond movies than four of them. Only Sean Connery starred in more James Bond movies than Moore, and it’s clearly because Moore did an incredible job bringing the character to life.

Moore starred in seven James Bond movies from 1973-1985. It’s admirable he stuck around long enough to carry the torch to Timothy Dalton in the 1980s.

Moore’s portrayal of James Bond was an impossible task. Connery’s James Bond was beloved, and it must have been so challenging trying to find a way to make James Bond his character without just doing a bad impression of Connery. Overall, and especially early in the run, Moore did an excellent job changing the tone of Bond. Moore was definitely less charming than Connery, but he was so much funnier. It’s safe to say that Moore’s Bond helped launch a number of spy-themed comedies.

Roger Moore’s James Bond movies:

  • Live and Let Die (1973)
  • The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
  • The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
  • Moonraker (1979)
  • For Your Eyes Only (1981)
  • Octopussy (1983)
  • A View to Kill (1985)
