1. Daniel Craig

This is going to be controversial! I’m not even trying to be, I swear. To me, Daniel Craig is the best James Bond actor. There’s no doubt that Sean Connery is iconic for playing the character with style and flare he did. But, Craig is just better as James Bond. Craig is the better actor, overall, and the character has improved with Craig in the role.

There’s something about Connery as Bond, as mentioned. There’s a swagger that Connery has that Craig does not, but there’s something about Craig’s demeanor, style, and look that feels more like everything that James Bond is. It’s a weight that with every kill, with every mission, with the damage left in his wake, it gets heavier. Craig wears that like no other Bond, and to me, that’s a much more authentic version of James Bond.

Is there some recency bias? Perhaps! Craig has been James Bond most of my life, so I can understand why those older than me or Bond super fans might side with Connery.

Daniel Craig’s James Bond movies:

  • Casino Royale (2006)
  • Quantum of Solace (2008)
  • Skyfall (2012)
  • Spectre (2015)
  • No Time to Die (2021)
