10. Clark Kent / Superman

When Tyler Hoechlin debuted on Supergirl season 2 as the Man of Steel, it was a moment worth waiting for. The show couldn’t adapt Superman properly in its CBS days, so we had a CGI super silhouette and an instant messaging service in his place. But when it moved to The CW, Kal-El of Krypton finally landed in National City.

Supergirl‘s Superman is as comic-accurate as they come. Light-hearted, uplifting and triumphant (not-to-mention inherently optimistic), it was a joy to see such a loyal adaptation of the character when his big screen outings were a little too serious at the time, and he worked incredibly well alongside the Girl of Steel.

There was a charm in Tyler Hoechlin’s performance that just made us all excited every time he showed up and he absolutely nailed the characterization of Clark Kent. Though some of the character’s later appearances didn’t exactly do the iconic hero justice, it was a joy to see him hang out with his cousin, and Hoechlin never failed to deliver.

This would ultimately set the stage for the much more nuanced version of the character we see on Superman and Lois, in which Hoechlin is again phenomenal.
