9. Kelly Olsen / Guardian

Kelly Olsen first made her presence felt on Supergirl in its fourth season when she showed up to support her brother James. She formed an instant connection with Alex Danvers, and from there, the two’s relationship blossomed into one of the show’s greatest aspects.

The creative team didn’t always do her justice throughout season 5 (which isn’t really surprising given that the fifth season is widely regarded as the show’s weakest), but Azie Tesfai committed to the role, crafting a character that was every bit as badass as she was endearing. It was in season 6 that she finally got her overdue chance to shine.

From her standing up for her own community to the way in which her and Alex’s love story took center stage, Supergirl‘s final season gave Kelly the spotlight, and it really made us all wish she had been showcased like that beforehand. Nevertheless, seeing her fight for the forgotten and overlooked people in society, battle racism, and ultimately don an incredibly comic-accurate Guardian suit was nothing short of awe-inspiring.

What an incredible send-off she got – and it was every bit deserved.
