6. Winn Schott

Well Winn Schott certainly went on quite the journey during Supergirl‘s run, didn’t he? The very first person to know about Kara’s secret, he initially had a crush on the Girl of Steel, but the pair eventually found the perfect synergy as best friends, as Winn became Kara’s greatest ally, helping her soar to the skies as Supergirl long before she had a team around her to help with that.

There was a warmth in Winn that instantly made him a comfort character for so many viewers. Jeremy Jordan portrayed him with such a charm that whenever he left the show after its third season, there was a noticeable absence. Yes, the character’s role at the DEO was filled by the equally lovable Brainy, but the heart that he brought to the show, and the bonds that he had with characters like Kara, Alex, and J’onn made him an imperative part of the first three seasons – and that was one of the many reasons that the back three seasons didn’t feel quite as triumphant.

Winn was a big part of Supergirl in its greatest form – the larger-than-life and cinematic CBS Supergirl – so when he followed in Cat Grant’s footsteps and left, we spent the rest of the show missing his quirky presence. Nevertheless, it was fulfilling to see him return from the future as Toyman on multiple occasions, showcasing what we all knew he always was: A hero.
