5. Superman changes

Comic book: Injustice: Year One

There are multiple realities where Superman is evil or misguided. The Injustice video game and comic book series are the most recognizable. It was the greatest hero of all time killing the most devious of villains. Joker may have died, but he still won. He changed the course of an entire universe.

Joker mixed Scarecrow’s fear gas with kryptonite to make Superman see Doomsday instead of Lois. This leads to a confused Superman flying what he thought was Doomsday into outer space. This resulted in him accidentally killing Lois and their unborn child.

Joker tells Batman he got tired of losing to him. Joker said it was time to, “play the game on easy.” By that, he meant going after Superman. As Batman is interrogating Joker, the Man of Steel flies to their location and puts his hand through Joker’s chest.

This could be the most iconic death of the last ten years. People on this list have killed and died, but none of them had the drastic change that this Superman did. He became everything that he fought against. Clark Kent was now a murderer and a despot. He also bullied and intimidated his friends and teammates into allowing him to do what he wanted.
