13. Storm

Sure, they featured her quite a bit. By “featured,” I mean she was in the movies. But let’s be honest, if Halle Berry didn’t play her, she was as forgettable as a bad date. Storm, one of the most iconic X-Men, was undoubtedly disrespected in the live-action films.

We all know Storm from her elemental abilities to her early struggles with some big bads before joining the X-Men. Her leadership qualities and strength are why Professor X asked her to join the X-Men. What an amazing story for an amazing character. Unfortunately, Fox messed that up.

Halle Berry’s portrayal of Storm was hindered by lackluster writing. Even Berry’s acting prowess couldn’t salvage the underwhelming character development she was given. Interestingly, there were talks of Angela Bassett taking on the role, a decision that might have led to a more dynamic depiction. However, the potential of Storm was left unfulfilled, no matter the actress.

The attempt to rejuvenate the character in the reboot didn’t fare much better. Alexandra Shipp took on the mantle of the younger Storm, but unfortunately, she too was trapped in a piss-poor storyline. Storm was reintroduced and then thrust into Four Horsemen was supposed to be a turning point, but it failed to resonate with audiences. There wasn’t enough connection with Storm to get people to care. Storm deserved better.
