2. Meghan Black

I need to get this out of the way, X-Men Evolution was vastly underrated, and Meghan Black’s performance lands her at No. 2 on this list. Black breathed new life into Rogue for an animated series that doesn’t get the love it deserves.

Fox’s animated series deviated far away from what Rouge fans knew about the comic book character. She was no longer the voluptuous extroverted southern belle fans read about in the comics or seen on TV. This version was a thin, pale-skin teenager who dressed in dark-goth clothes. A southern goth girl that warmed our hearts. She was an introvert, quiet (which she was in the comics), and didn’t command center stage.

This version of Rogue was a fleshed-out version of what Anne Paquin’s character could have been in the movies. The creators focused more on the loneliness Rogue felt and used her choice of clothes and makeup to visually depict her inner struggles. The idea made sense given the struggles of Rogue in the comics, which the show also focused on. It was a clever change, showcasing a version of the introverted Rogue in the comics.

While Black’s Rogue might not hold the title of the Rogue for everyone, her version was a little bit different in making Anna more relatable to a different audience. The series itself was a reimagining of the X-Men universe, and Black’s voice and talents played a pivotal role.
