X-Men: 6 actors we want to see play Magneto in the MCU
4. Nikolai Coster-Waldau
For seven years (or seasons really), Nikolai Coster-Waldau gave us the ultimate love him or hate him character, that of Jaime Lannister. His time on Game of Thrones was all the evidence we need that Coster-Waldau has what it takes to not just be a part of the MCU, but to specifically step into the role of Magneto.
As a Game of Thrones actor, he consistently delivered performances that made you feel things. He made you hate him. He made you sympathize with him. And he even made you like him. In many ways, he was a tortured character with a tragic backstory, and all of that fueled who he was and what he did.
If we take all of that, and then put that side by side with Magneto and his backstory, it actually makes a lot of sense to have Nikolai Coster-Waldau step into the world of the X-Men for the MCU. He has what it takes to be a truly believable villain we sympathize with.
Beyond the fact that he can be both tragic and villainous, there is also the fact that in a lot of ways, Coster-Waldau is a scene stealer. He can command a screen with ease and yet he always seems to find a way to step back as needed. He has a presence on screen that is hard to ignore and we love that for our next Magneto.
