5 The Walking Dead characters we’d bring back from the dead (and 3 we wouldn’t)

Carl

Here’s another one that still stings. Rick’s son Carl is with us from the very start of The Walking Dead, and we get to see him grow into a resilient young man capable of surviving amid the apocalypse. Forced to adapt when zombies take over the world, Carl’s character development is incredibly compelling and his coming-of-age story really resonates with viewers. Plus, we love his relationship with Rick.

Carl’s death comes in the mid-season finale of season 8 after he’s bitten by a walker. Of course, the injury is fatal, seeing as he’s bitten in the abdomen and there’s no way to cut it out. This episode is even more emotional because Carl decides to write letters to the most important people in his life, including his dad, Michonne, and others.

Carl’s been through so much at such a young age, and he’s definitely taken from the world far too soon.

VERDICT: Bring back

The Governor

When we think about satisfying deaths on The Walking Dead, The Governor’s definitely got one of the top spots. The villain from season 3 and 4 is the leader of Woodbury who acts as if he just wants to protect his community. However, he’s actually a power-hungry tyrant who goes to great lengths to assert his dominance over those around him.

His extreme cruelty and lack of remorse are just two reasons why the show’s fandom cannot stand this character, plus he commits some terrible, irreversible acts. (Can we please bring back Hershel!?)

After the big fight, The Governor has Rick pinned down and is choking him, coming close to killing him. But fortunately, Michonne shows up right on time and stabs The Governor with her katana through the chest. As he’s squirming on the ground and walkers start to move toward him, Lilly shoots him in the head to end him for good. This character has no redeeming qualities, and to be honest, he should’ve died sooner.

VERDICT: Leave dead
